Carey is a former top model in fashion who measured at almost 5'10", was popular with American fashion designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979 the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists named the father of her Scientist of the Year. Carey was a frequent traveler because of her father's work. As she was attending in the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. An agent from Ford's model agency located in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. She briefly lived and studied in Paris prior to returning to New York. Her modeling as well as her college career took off and she appeared on Vogue's, Glamour's, as well as many other covers of magazines. As she modeled and continued to pursue her studies in full-time a major in literature at New York University. As she studied acting in the Neighborhood Playhouse, New York, her enthusiasm for acting increased. In 1986, she got her first acting role as a small part in Club Paradise, with Robin Williams. When she is not working, she enjoys skiing, windsurfing, climbing rocks as well as whitewater rafting.
