Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. For a child with Irish origins, who was surrounded her by talented parents and family members, this came naturally. Maureen was born in this cosy refuge on the 17th of August 1920. Her family was her parents as well as family members. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland and ran a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons placed 2nd in the family of six FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and participated in rough, competitive games when she was young. Her natural ability to perform was a perfect complement to her interest in sport. Her winning of almost all the Feis prizes for her own country's drama and theatre performances proved the fact that she was a natural performer. In the age of 14, she had been admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing as well as classical theater.
